How to Set the Time on a G-SHOCK — Time, Date and Time Zone Basics

G-SHOCK has many different modules and the buttons can vary a little, but the principle for setting the time is similar. This article covers the basic steps that work on most digital models.

1. Enter setting mode

Hold the lower-left button (usually ADJUST/MODE) for about two to three seconds until the seconds or the field to set starts flashing. That means you're in setting mode.

2. Adjust one field at a time

Use the upper-right / lower-right buttons to increase or decrease the flashing value
Press the upper-right button (MODE) to move to the next field, such as hour, minute or date
When you're done, press the lower-left button to exit and save

3. Setting the time zone (city code)

On models with World Time, first choose the city code (for example BKK for Bangkok) in World Time mode, so the time matches Thailand (UTC+7).

Tip: models with radio time sync (Multiband) or phone connectivity (Bluetooth) set the time automatically — no manual setting needed.

4. If the buttons don't match the manual

Every G-SHOCK has a module number on the caseback. Search for the manual using that number, or ask us on LINE — we're happy to help.

I've set the time but the date is wrong. What do I do?

Enter setting mode again and move to the day/month/year fields to correct them. Some models need the year set so they can work out the day of the week automatically.
